Our Story
North Star Education began with a student named Zackie.
Working with Zackie deepened and refined my approach to teaching and learning. He reaffirmed something I have always believed: students are not empty vessels waiting to be filled with knowledge. They come with their own strengths, perspectives, and ways of understanding the world. Our role as educators is to listen, to adapt, and to create the conditions that allow them to express what they already know and what they need.
Through Zackie, I was reminded of the importance of patience, creativity, and meeting students exactly where they are. He pushed me to think more intentionally, to adjust my approach, and to go beyond standard methods in order to support his growth truly. Experiences like these continue to shape the way I work with every student.
Zackie also loves space and all things astronaut, which inspired the name North Star! Just like the North Star has long been a guide, we believe every student should be at the center of their own journey. They are not meant to follow someone else’s path. They are meant to be guided toward their own.
